Working Safely On and Around Conveyors training course (EPIC Accredited)
Background to the course:
This course has been specifically designed to enable trainees to actively contribute towards the reduction of accidents and incidents in the high risk working environment of belt conveyors. The course supports the quarrying and materials handling industries in embedding a proactive safety culture and achievement of ‘Target Zero’, a World Class Industry.
The course is fully accredited and certified by EPIC,
the training organisation and awarding body for the extractive and mineral processing industries.
It is a one day interactive personal development course the content of which is based upon BS7300 and MHEA recommended best practice for belt conveyors.
Aimed At:
All those working on and around belt conveyor systems.
The programme is expressly aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding of how individual actions and attitudes can reduce risk to health, safety and environment on and around conveyors.
Those requiring the essential / underpinning knowledge and evidence requirements for occupational standards of competency, NVQ’s and SVQ’s.
Course Structure and Methods:
The course is designed to encourage the participation of all delegates using an interactive approach to learning. The course is made up of two modules the first of which is classroom based learning and the other is on-site based.
Module two includes practical first hand on plant experience in completing a hazard survey and application of risk control methods. Alternatively module two can be achieved by means of a virtual experience via our computer based in the classroom.
Trainees are encouraged in a positive and supportive manner to take an active and full part in all aspects of the learning experience. At the end of each module learning is assessed by a multi choice test. Course participants need to achieve a pass mark of 60% on each test to receive EPIC certification; alternatively a certificate of attendance will be issued.
This course enable delegates to achieve personal competence in their ability to:
- Understand basic legislation affecting conveyors
- Identify high risk points on conveyors & evaluate hazards
- Be able to assess risk & use an active risk assessment procedure to effectively minimise risk
- Exhibit Proactive Safety Behaviour
- Improve safety performance of individuals & teams
- Gain essential underpinning knowledge and evidence for occupational standards & awards /certification
- Provide certification for individuals who demonstrate essential knowledge and competence
